Authorized to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the founding of a Swedish community in Delaware, these coins were issued by the Delaware Swedish Tercentenary Commission at an original sale price of $1.75. From a total mintage of 25,015 pieces, 20,978 examples of this type were distributed to contemporary buyers, with 15 coins reserved for Assay purposes. The remaining 4,022 pieces were melted.
