Provincetown, Massachusetts. $10 1875. Fr. 416. The First NB. Charter #736. PMG Very Fine 30.A significant discovery which comes to use fresh out of the woodwork. Provincetown is located at the norther tip of Cape Cod Massachusetts. The seaside town is on the site of the Mayflowers landing in 1620. It is arguably the most sought after of all Massachusetts bank. The note presented here faces up beautifully with a bold impression and overprints with particular focus on the vivid vignette of Franklin Drawing Electricity from the Sky, at left. The back of the note enjoys striking green inks along with definitive blacks at the central vignette of De Soto Discovering the Mississippi. Incredibly bold manuscript signatures are welcomed and the verso design shows with some of the most pleasing appeal we have seen for the intricate layout. Fully original paper surfaces are easily identified looking through the encapsulation surface. It is just the third large size to be offered ever in public auction. An Uncirculated 1902 $10 Plain Back sold in a 2015 for an impressive $8225. If rarity and quality are of any indication of value, we would not be surprised if this peach exceeded our estimate.
