The island of Montserrat has lost about 60% of its habitable area due to continued volcanic activity over the past two decades. During a massive eruption in 1995, Montserrat lost its Capital city of Plymouth, airport, and seaport to a large volcanic eruption. The island has the lowest population compared to other British territorial islands in the Eastern Caribbean.
