WESTERN LIAO: ca。 11th12th century, AE charmpendant 4044。21g41, primitive floral design, with a lotus bloom in center circle, surround by a quatrefoil with curved arcs phoenix dragon, with attached square loop for suspension, VF, RRR。 The Western Liao or Qara Khitai, officially the Great Liao dynasty, was a Sinicized Khitan empire in Central Asia。 The well-known version with horseman obverse and the same reverse, also with attached square loop, is stylistically somewhat similar and about the same size 40Zeno-1159 8945641, also with very primitive engraving。 These are usually assigned to Western Liao dynasty, and are not found in China, but in Central Asia, this example reportedly from Kazakhstan。
