Silky smooth in texture and fully struck throughout, this lovely Gem is sure to appeal to discerning Indian cent enthusiasts. All known examples of the Proof 1869 were struck from an obverse die with minor repunching at the top of the digit 9 in the date. Two die pairings are known with Snow-PR2, offered here, attributable by the presence of a faint die line within the upper right of the letter N in ONE. This is the same reverse die that the Mint used to strike Proof 1868 cents of the Snow-PR2 variety.
