Fr. 2201-Flgs. 1934 $500 Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Currency Gem New 65 PPQ.1934 Series Atlanta $500s were printed in large quantity at a time that when thousands of banks were failing due to insolvency & the economy was contracting sharply due to the Great Depression. High-denomination bills were always used primarily for interbank transactions, so with the economy at a virtual standstill, the use of hi-denoms decreased precipitously. Consequently, nearly the entire print run of 1934 $500 Atlanta $500s of all seal color varieties sat unused & was ultimately destroyed. ppSo here tonight we have the one & only Gem 1934 Atlanta $500 LGS thought to exist, in a spectacular state of preservation, brimming with originality, vibrant colors & picture frame margins. From the Stradivarius Collection.
