1801 Capped Bust Right Eagle. BD-2. Rarity-2. VF Details--Filed Rims (PCGS).A charming and evenly circulated example with deep mustard-yellow and olive color to the surfaces. The rims appears to have been fully filed off and re-edged, though the surfaces remain otherwise wholesome. Boldly struck with a reverse die rotated 30 degrees clockwise. pNot only is BD-2 the more obtainable of the two known die marriages of the 1801 eagle, but it is one of the most frequently offered varieties in the Capped Bust Right series, making it a popular choice for type purposes. 600-800 examples are estimated to survive in all grades.
