1803/2 Capped Bust Right Half Eagle. BD-4. Rarity-4. Perfect T, 3 Touches Bust. EF Details--Mount Removed (PCGS).This is an exceptionally appealing coin for the assigned grade, the surfaces attractively original in a blend of honey-orange and reddish-rose patina. Boldly defined overall, evidence for the PCGS qualifier is minimal (at least through the holder) with only a single readily evident edge nick at 9 oclock on the obverse. This is an easily attributable variety, BD-4 the only one of the 1803/2 half eagle die pairings on which the letter T in LIBERTY is perfect and the digit 3 in the date touches Libertys bust. The present example illustrates the terminal die state with a prominent cud break at the lower obverse border in the date area. Attractive in hand with a pleasingly original appearance, there is much to recommend this coin to the sharp-eyed bidder. BD Die State d/c.
