Undated (ca. 1864) Bolen Store Card / Liberty Cap Mule. Tin. 28 mm. Musante JAB M/E-10. MS-63 (NGC).A lovely bright silver example, both sides possess sharply rendered devices and appreciable semi-reflective tendencies in the fields. Although copper and brass examples of this Bolen muling were offered in Woodwards sale of October 1884, the first auction appearance for a tin striking reported by Musante (2002) is Frossards sale of January 1891. All impressions from this muling are attributed to Dr. Frank Smith Edwards of New York, who purchased the dies either directly from Bolen (reverse) or from George B. Mason (obverse). From the Ralph A. Edson Collection.
