Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Justin I facing three-quarters right, holding spear and shield; Reverse: Angel standing facing, holding long cross and globus cruciger, star in right field. One of the first reverse types to feature the male angel instead of the female Victory, which came about just after Constantinoples split with Rome in A.D. 519. Minor edge marks present, some light scratches in the field to the left of the Angels long cross. Nicely struck with attractive tone.Purchased from Glenn W. Woods.
