District of Columbia, Bank of Commerce. May 20, 1862. $1. Fine.(DC-70 G12b) A wonderfully designed Ace produced by the National Bank Note Company. This type has a very Federal appearance with green tints, the portrait of Abraham Lincoln at bottom left and a fierce eagle at center with shield, arrows and olive branch. The eagles head is turned in the direction of the arrows on this Civil War era obsolete. The color is bold and the appeal nice for the grade. Just a few minor stains and an annotation at back.
