1982年马可·波罗金币样币，青铜合金，精制，面值100元，重量6.1克，直径23毫米。正面嘉峪关城楼景观，门朝右，背面马可波罗头像，下部大海无清边处理。NGC评级NGC 68，极其稀有。
马可·波罗10克金币的设计从1982年开始，1983年正式发行，至少有过四个版本的样币。以下包含正式发行前的三版样币。第一版为1982年“厂志”10克金样币，有群山远景。背面下方无海浪设计，面值100元的底面为镜面。第二版即1982年马可·波罗金币样币，较之第一版，正面去掉了“厂志”版的远景山脉，背面图案大海设计佈局放大。第三版1983年样币与第二版类似，但是正面图案嘉峪关城牆边部做了清边处理。1983年正式发行币为金质，正面嘉峪关图案佈局与上述三版样币不同，城门朝左。特别值得一提的是，我国于1983年发行的马可·波罗纪念银币获得1985年“世界硬币大奖”最有历史意义纪念币奖项。马可·波罗是威尼斯共和国商人、旅行家及探险家。曾随父亲和叔叔通过丝绸之路到过中国，担任元朝官员。回到威尼斯后，马可·波罗在一次威尼斯和热那亚之间的海战中被俘。他的游记让欧洲人得以瞭解中亚和中国，对东西发展有很大的贡献。

He went to China with his father and uncle through the Silk Road and served as an official of the Yuan dynasty. After returning to Venice, Marco Polo was captured in a naval battle between Venice and Genoa. He wrote his travelling experiences in the book. Europeans could better understand Central Asia and China after reading his book. He has made great contributions to the development of eastern and western world.
