Uncut Pair of New York, New York. $1 Original. Fr. 380b. The Seventh Ward NB. Charter #998. Extremely Fine 40.Any offering of large-size National Banknotes in an uncut form is a special occasion as they simply do not appear often in major auction. This New York bank pairing shows terrific overall appeal and extremely bold overprinting. Tight margins are noted for accuracy but quite typical for this design. These One Dollar notes along with their Two Dollar sheet mates were short lived being phased out prior to the 1882 series. PCGS Currency comments "Small Splits and Tears; Minor Stains," which are indeed trivial and do not affect the appeal in any drastic way. From the Marc D. Cohen Collection.
