Fr. 123. 1923 $10 Legal Tender Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.An important note in any type collection and quite challenging to locate in Gem grades. Seen with a terrific original paper wave, well embossed overprints and a highly detailed impression. The originality is so noteworthy that we feel comfortable saying it is among the most pleasing we have seen for the issue. Central portrait vignette of Andrew Jackson with flanking treasury seal and X numeral with superimposed TEN, DOLLARS, TEN at left and right respectively. The back is vibrant with ornate scroll work for TEN counters at upper left and right and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA at center. Left and right, circular 10 counters and where the nickname "Poker Chip," is derived from. Large even borders frame the design quite nicely and pieces of this quality are quite rare. Certainly a perfect fit for any collection of large size Gem material. When compared to the popular Bison design, from which dozens of Gems are known, PMG has graded only a 12 notes at this level with four finer.
