The Act of June 15, 1933, called for the production of a maximum of 1,500,000 half dollars to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Texas independence, won after the defeat of Santa Annas forces at the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836, and the subsequent signing of the Treaties of Velasco on May 14.
