India - Colonial. TRANQUEBAR: AR rupee (11.28g), "Arkat" (Arcot), year 12, KM-—, Jensen—, in the name of Alamgir II, 4 testmarks & 2 bankers marks, bold VF, RR. The characteristic marks are a trisul within the S of "jalus" (mostly off-flan on this piece) and a whirling flower left of the regnal year. Similar pieces, with regnal years 13 and 14, but in the name of Shah Alam II, are known (cited by Uno Barner Jensen in "Danish East India Trade Coins and the coins of Tranquebar 1620-1845", pp. 30-31).
