COLOMBIA. 1870-P 5 Decimos. Popayán mint. Restrepo 295.1. VF-25 (PCGS).Unusually nice for an early Popayán 5 Decimos, with some residual luster around the peripheries offering more information about the grade than the typically softly struck centers. The final date digit is profoundly recut, with three distinct 0s seen with the naked eye. The obverse shows subtle granularity, while the reverse is more smooth and lustrous, with a fairly well defined shield. A very nice example of this scarce issue. From Freeman Craig, December 1986.
