COLOMBIA. 1869-P 5 Decimos. Popayán mint. Restrepo 295.1. F-12 (NGC).The first Colombian "half dollar" of Popayán, plated in a standard reference on the series. When this was offered in the 2006 Whittier sale, it was described as the second finest of about five known examples. Evenly worn with faint golden toning and good overall planchet quality, this piece shows some small spots in the upper left obverse. The reverse die is misaligned perhaps 30 degrees clockwise from proper coin turn. Light marks are seen consistent with the grade. From Heritages sale of the Whittier Collection, June 2006, lot 16711.
