Allentown, Pennsylvania. $1 Original. Fr. 380a. The First NB. Charter #161. PMG Very Fine 20 Net. Tape Repairs. This note is from the third issuing bank for this popular Lehigh County institution. The note is a lovely VF, with some minor tape repairs along the bottom and top center. Both signatures are nicely legible and the red overprints are exceptional for the grade. Tightly cut, which is typical for the series. The bank was in business for 15 shorts years as it opened in 1863 and closed in 1878. With just $2,291 outstanding in 1916, we now understand why only six notes are reported to the current census. This note last sold in our September 1955 sale for $20.00.
