Fr. 1700. 1933 $10 Silver Certificate. PCGS Currency Gem New 66 PPQ.This catalog number represents a note that is often referred to as "The King of Small Size," as every dedicated collector of bills of the current dimensions aspire to eventually own one of these rarities. The present example is of quality that rivals only three others we have handled which were graded by PMG as Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ and sold in our July Baltimore 2015 sale for $70,500, a PMG Superb Gem 67EPQ in our 2016 July ANA sale for a $105,750, and lastly, a PCGS Gem New 66PPQ which sold for $66,000 in our November 2017 Baltimore sale. This PCGS Gem New 66 PPQ note enjoys all the technical quality that piece displayed with a sharp impression of the face, back and overprinted details. Wonderful centering and margins along with original paper easily confirm the lofty Gem grade applied by PCGS and this piece is one of just two examples PCGS has graded at this level with none finer. This series differs from the far more common 1934 series notes with a Treasury seal at left and the absence of a blue 10 counter. Also the wording "PAYABLE IN SILVER COIN TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND" as seen on this note was reworded to "IN SILVER PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND" for the later issues. Certainly a trophy note and worthy of entering even the finest of collections. PCGS Pop 2/0.
