Pennsylvania Coat of Arms upper left of center. 5000 upper right of center and in left end panel. FIVE THOUSAND in right end panel. The engraved design elements are seen in black with a full length brown tint. The end panels, vignette and counter all display brown tint while the fields display a repeating 50 FIFTY undertint in light brown, obviously originally prepared for another type. There are raised black dots in PENNSYLVANIA in the bank title. A penned inscription on the back is difficult to discern but begins with "Specimen from" along with a name and "No. 4." Some light handling is observed but does not detract from the impressive appearance of this essay note. A very unusual item, no doubt unique in this form.
