Although some reference suggest the existence of both a clean date and overdate for this year, this is not the case. There is only one date side die for this issue, which can be easily identified by a small bulge near the "2" of the date. As stated in Janson, the reverse die from 1831 was re-worked in 1832, hence all examples of this date are overdates. Though the NGC insert states "Mount Removed", we believe that this piece was mounted in a bezel as there are no detectable signs of solder on edges. Minor nicks and contact marks consistent with bezel mounting. Cleaned long ago now lightly toned. Despite the noted defects an attractive example with an excellent provenance.NGC AU Details--Mount Removed.
