EF Details--Repaired (PCGS).As with all Liberty Seated silver dollars of its era, the 1857 was produced in limited numbers (94,000 circulation strikes) at the request of bullion depositors, who used most of the coins in international commerce. Survivors are understandably scarce in all grades, Dick Osburn and Brian Cushing (2018) allowing for no more than 400 examples from both known die marriages of the issue.From the Boston Old City Hall Collection.
