Fr. 190b. 1864 $10 Compound Interest Treasury Note. PCGS Very Fine 35. Small Edge Splits and Tears; Hinge Remnant on Back.,A difficult catalog number to locate and a type which is missing from many advanced collections. The large format allows for great appeal with similar "United States" engraving at upper left to that found on the five dollar Legal Tenders of 1869 through 1907. Portrait of Salmon Chase at lower left with allegorical figure representing Peace at lower right. Eagle vignette at center which is later found on the one dollar Silver Certificates of 1899. The note is highly appealing with nice inks and with only some trivial minor splits and a hinge remnant at back. Minor oxidization of the bronzing is observed and typical for the grade.,From the Collection of Harold S. Young, 1914-1965. Purchased privately from Stack’s in the 1950s.,
