1805 Draped Bust Half Dollar. O-110, T-6. Rarity-5+. VF-30 (NGC).,Faint traces of mint luster are visible in the protected areas of this attractive piece. The patina is a blend of olive, lavender, and apricot that is most saturated the borders. A parallel pair of old scrapes crosses the shield on the reverse, though these are largely unnoticed without magnification. This is the fourth and final employment of this obverse die, and the rim above Y in LIBERTY now exhibits considerable crumbling. The reverse is in one of its earliest pairings, showing only a small crack at the U of UNITED which will eventually become a large cud in the 1806 O-104a and O-104b varieties. The 1805 O-110 is a considerable condition rarity and the finest known example are only in EF condition. This piece sits confidently at the lower end of the Condition Census, besting the Jules Reiver specimen by 5 numeric points.,From the Sutton Court Collection of Early Half Dollar Varieties. Acquired privately from Alpine Numismatics, November 1989.,
