EF-40 (PCGS).，The lavender-gray patina of this delightful Small 3 example is speckled by glints of electric blue and amber gold throughout. Suggestions of original mint luster loom in the protected areas, contributing to a thoroughly pleasant complexion. The strike is uniform and bold, with good detail remaining to Libertys profile and the eagles wing feathers. Inspection with a glass fails to reveal even a single noteworthy blemish and the surfaces are overall smooth in-hand. The cracks at T of LIBERTY and the first S of STATES are well formed, though the heavy clashing at the date is not yet present as is seen in the latest states of this marriage. <p>The Overton 104 variety is the only pairing for the year to utilize the Small 3 punch in the date, identifiable by the absence of an upper serif. Though a handful of Mint State examples are known, including the Pogue (MS-64 PCGS) and Queller-Gardner (MS-62 PCGS) specimens, the Condition Census is largely a roster of AU examples.
