1803 Draped Bust Half Dollar. O-102a, T-2. Rarity-3+. Large 3, Small Reverse Stars. VF-25 (NGC).,Colorful rainbow hues are visible at the borders of this charming piece when viewed under a light source. The complexion is otherwise a medley of grey, apricot, and lavender that speaks to absolute originality. The strike is largely uniform and the devices remain well defined for the grade, complemented by overall smooth fields. This is the second of three uses of this obverse die and the subsequent wear is evident. Traces of clashing can be seen at Libertys ear in addition to the damage at her shoulder and the rim crumbling below the date. The reverse die is also heavily worn, showing thin cracks around much of the legend as well as dramatic clashing of LIBERTY at the lower border. This is an attractive and fascinating specimen that should draw serious attention.,From the Sutton Court Collection of Early Half Dollar Varieties. Acquired privately from Stacks, December 1984.,
