1874-S Liberty Seated Quarter. Arrows. Briggs 1-A. MS-66 (PCGS).,An engaging piece with smoky pinkish-silver patina to smooth satin surfaces. Pale cobalt blue highlights in isolated peripheral areas add further character, especially for the obverse. Fully struck throughout and a delight to behold. Thanks to the discovery of a hoard of 80 to 100 pieces in a West Coast bank in 1949 (per Larry Briggs, 1991), the 1874-S is the most frequently encountered quarter of the Arrows, Motto Liberty Seated design in Mint State. Indeed, the present offering is sure to appeal to quality conscious collectors seeking an example of this brief two-year type.,,
