1788 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 15-M, W-6400. Rarity-5. Period After MASSACHUSETTS. Fine-12 (PCGS).,153.2 grains. Streaks of medium copper adorn a base of lighter golden-brown patina. This is a nicely centered, well balanced coin for the grade with all major design elements bold. Minor flan flaw at 11 oclock on the obverse border, few trivial edge nicks at 3 to 4 oclock, otherwise the surfaces are smooth and inviting. A respectable circulated example of this scarce die pairing, the obverse of which was not listed by Ryder in his original 1920 monograph on the series.,From the Michael Demling Collection of Massachusetts Cents.<p>,
