1787 Massachusetts Half Cent. Ryder 4-C, W-5940. Rarity-2. AU-58 (PCGS).,Marbled olive-gray, pale rose and golden-brown patina on both sides is most vivid at the central reverse. The surfaces are overall smooth with a delightful satin texture that is superior for both the type and the assigned grade. The strike is generally well centered with all devices sharp, although there is a lack of denticulation along the right borders. Ryder 4-C is the most frequently encountered die marriage of the 1787 Massachusetts half cent, and there are even a number of AU and Mint State coins included among the survivors. This lovely piece is equally well suited for inclusion in an advanced type set or specialized variety collection.,,
