The note exhibits bright paper that has maintained its full originality. The gold overprints are boldly printed while the orange printed back design retains its intended brilliance.<p><p><p><p><strong>$50 Gold Certificates, Series of 1922</strong><p>The Series of 1922 notes have an inscription, not present on the earlier issues, in the left field, "THIS CERTIFICATE IS A LEGAL TENDER / IN THE AMOUNT THEREOF IN PAYMENT OF ALL / DEBTS AND DUES, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE / ACTS OF MARCH 14, 1900, AS AMENDED / ON DECEMBER 24, 1919." The back is the same design as the preceding type. The orange-gold color tended to fade. Today, notes with bright backs are worth more than those with faded color, regardless of the grade.
