1805 Washington Eccleston Medal. Bronzed Copper. 76 mm. By Thomas Webb, for Daniel Eccleston. Musante GW-88, Baker-85. MS-62 BN (PCGS).,A lovely example of this large and beautifully designed medal. Dark chocolate bronze surfaces are essentially undisturbed in terms of the patina beyond tiny light spots on the three or four highest points of the design. Glossy and with no serious marks. Just a couple of blunt marks are noted left of the Native American on the reverse. A bit of roughness remains from the original casting of the planchet as typically seen, and there is some light surface debris in some of the recesses. Always popular as one of the largest and truly fine medallic representations of Washington.,From The Brian Dobbins Collection. Earlier from Presidential Coin and Antiques sale of August 2016, lot 170.,
