The weights are quite elegant, each with a uniface representation of the coin it represents, and there are eight of these in brass, tucked into fitted compartments within the box. Five of them represent gold coins of various Italian States, plus one from Spain, one from France, and one for a Sovrano from the Holy Roman Empire. Leather and wood hinged box, 179 x 79mm, with two working clasps on the front edge. The scale is complete and functional. Some verdigris on the pans and weights.
