cf.SNG ANS-778 (bee behind neck); SNG Cop-798 (bee behind neck); SNG Munich-1292. RARE. Head of Persephone facing left, hair wreathed in grain, bee behind neck; Reverse: Nike driving fast biga right. It is interesting to note that the inscription of Hiketas has been effaced from the exergue on the reverse die. This possibly suggests its manufacture slightly after the rule of Hiketas during the early period of Pyrrhus. The presence of a small bee behind the neck of Persephone in place of the normal cornucopia also supports this as it is consistent with issues of Pyrrus. This suggests it is a transitional type and one of the first issues of Pyrrus. Minor bend. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 2/5. Bent.
