6.73 grams. From the 1656 wreck of the Maravillas, no paperwork. Bright and lustrous yellow gold with full frost on the surfaces. The date is complete, though the very top portions of the 6 and 5 are off the edge. The cross and shield are mostly complete, though a bit muddy in execution, and the assayer R is nice and crisp. Superb color and grade, and very elusive with such a complete date. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian and Ecuadorian Coins.
From Sidney Smith, March 1981.
