In early 1922, Jiang Yan railway workers set up a workers39 club under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. In April of the same year, Jinghan workers39 club held their first workers39 congress in Changxindian and decided to set up a general union. Jiang39an, Zhengzhou, Changxindian and other regions gradually changed their workers39 clubs into subregional trade unions. On February 1, 1923, the Beijing-Shanghai Railway Federation held its inaugural meeting in Zhengzhou. Wu Peifu, the warlord, sent a large number of military and police personnel to enforce martial law, then banned workers from meeting and ordered representatives from all over to immediately leave Zhengzhou. The Union was forced to move to the river bank on February 3rd. On February 4th, the Beijing-Wuhan Railway started a general strike. On February 7th, 38 people, including the army and police officers, attacked the Union and the Jiang39an Trade Union Chairman Lin Xiangqian was killed and another 200 were wounded. This is the revolutionary struggle that shocked both China and the international community.The Jiang39an-Beijing-Wuhan Railway Union membership medal is bronze, round and engraved on the front edge with the title 34Jiang39an-Beijing-Wuhan Railway Union Membership Card.34 The inner circle has the word 34sacred labor.34 The center has the 34double-wing wheel-shaped34 pattern, the early emblem of China39s railway. That year, there were about 23,000 members of the Jiang39an Railway Union. Only around 10 original medals are known, mostly in museums. It is unknown how many of the official 1953 restrikes exist.
