1882 Great Seal Centennial Medal. Silver. 62 mm. 122.7 grams. Julian CM-20. Re-Engraved.,A 20th Century strike with sandblasted surfaces, beautifully re-engraved by a skilled metal artist. Modern mint medals are normally produced in yellow bronze, but many issues are known in special (and rare) silver strikes. This piece appears to be one of those, with all the details on both sides artistically re-engraved and highlighted, producing a dramatic and attention-grabbing version of this popular medal. We have never seen another like this, and have no idea who made it, but it impresses all who see it. If you intend to bid on this piece, you should inspect it personally. This is a must-see, sold as is, no return lot.
