Fr. 1935-F. 1976 $2 Federal Reserve Notes. Atlanta. Choice About Uncirculated. Multiple Errors.,This is one of the most interesting error pairs we have ever encountered. Here we see two Atlanta District 1976 $2s separated by three serial numbers. The first note exhibits a back to face offset involving about 20% of the note diagonally at right. The next note displays a massive printed foldover involving about 40% of the note at right and corresponding in shape to the offset on the prior note. The foldover opens up four times revealing the dramatic error. Both notes are from plate H4 and their errors are directly related. We have chosen to offer this pair ungraded so that the owner can enjoy the full effect of the foldover either open or closed. This pair was discovered by a bank teller 40 years ago and was tucked away off of the market until just recently. Each note has a light center fold from storage. Errors of the $2 denomination are always hotly contested at auction and this pair is really as dramatic as they come. Our estimate may prove to be conservative with the final hammer falls.
