Fr. 191a. 1864 $20 Compound Interest Treasury Note. PCGS Very Fine 30. Repairs, Small Stains.,An offering for this challenging "Middle of the Book," design with these $20 denominations being scarce in any condition. A paltry total of just over 50 pieces according to Track and Price are known and this Very Fine offering is certainly well above the average grade. Still bold overprinted details of the serial numbers and Type I treasury seal while the bronzing shows some typical green oxidization. Allegorical vignette of Victory at left; mortar, lower center; Abraham Lincoln, right. Red overprinted date of August 1, 1865. The repairs are quite subtle as are the stains and do not reduce the tremendous eye appeal this larger format note possesses.
