1796 Draped Bust Quarter. B-2. Rarity-3. AG-3 (PCGS).,This is a desirable circulated example of the scarce, historically and numismatically significant 1796 quarter. Evenly toned in lilac and golden-gray patina, both sides retain bold outline definition to all but a few isolated peripheral devices. The most significant lack of detail is confined to the upper obverse and lower left reverse borders. The date is sharp, as is Libertys portrait and much of the eagle. Wispy hairlines are noted for accuracy, and there are a few minor pin scratches in the right obverse field. The first quarter dollar in U.S. history, the 1796 is also the only issue of the Draped Bust, Small Eagle design. As such, obtaining a survivor from the mintage of 6,146 pieces is essential for collectors seeking to complete a type set of classic U.S. Mint coinage.,PCGS# 5310. NGC ID: 23RA.,,
