1853 Braided Hair Cent. N-28. Rarity-4. Grellman State-b. Unc Details--Cleaned (PCGS).,A very faint group of hairlines may be detected on the obverse, if one looks closely. Otherwise, the surfaces are quite nice. The obverse retains generous faded mint red with the higher areas of the design having mellowed to light olive brown. The reverse is toned a little more deeply but with similar color. Noted on the Merkin envelope "one of the finest known-not in Helfenstein." Today it still ranks close to Condition Census for the variety.
EAC:MS62
,PCGS# 406044.,,From the Twin Leaf Collection of United States Large Cents, Part IV.
