1882 Great Seal Centennial Medal. Bronzed Copper. 62 mm. By Charles E. Barber. Julian CM-20. Specimen-63 (PCGS).,A handsome specimen with reflective fields and rich mahogany patina showing numerous tiny carbon spots, particularly around the peripheries. Impressive and quite attractive in hand. Notably few examples exist in the original mahogany finish, with Mint reports suggesting that only 104 pieces were struck, although the later bronze restrikes are more plentiful in numismatic circles.
