1799 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-169, B-21. Rarity-3. AU-58 (PCGS). CAC.,Faint iridescent highlights drift over both sides of this beautiful example, the surfaces of which present as virtually brilliant at most viewing angles. Near-fully lustrous with a lively satin finish, an overall smooth appearance and particularly sharp striking detail on the obverse further enhance this coins desirability. The reverse is also well struck by early dollar standards with perhaps the expected softness of detail to the eagles head, breast and left wing. While not a major rarity among die marriages of the 1799 dollar, BB-169 is more conditionally challenging than most with the typical survivor grading no finer than EF. This beautiful premium quality Choice AU is listed third on Bowers 2013 list of "Notable Specimens" for the variety behind two Mint State coins. Eagerly awaiting inclusion in an advanced early dollar cabinet.,PCGS# 40060.,,From the Catherine Bullowa Moore Collection.
