CUBA. 20 Pesos, 1915. Philadelphia Mint. PCGS PROOF-63 CAMEO Secure Holder.
KM-21; Fr-1. Mintage unknown. Krause lists a mintage of 24 sets for the 1915 proof set. VERY RARE. Dies engraved and prepared by Charles E. Barber. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, on the same weight standard and fineness of contemporary United States $20 gold coins.
Although proof mintage records for this year are yet unknown, it is estimated that less than a few dozen proof 20 pesos were actually minted, with some sources suggesting a much smaller number. Sharply struck as would be expected being a Philadelphia mint product with hard flashy proof surfaces and stark contrast to the frosted devices. Attractive honey-gold tone in the open fields with lovely lemon yellow amongst the devices. Seldom offered and sure to excited the specialist of Cuban numismatics. From the Blue Moon Collection.
