孙像三帆民国18年壹圆意大利 NGC MS 62
CHINA. Pattern Dollar Struck in Silver, Year 18 (1929). Design from the Rome Mint in Italy.L&M-92; Kann-614; KM-Pn97. EXTREMELY RARE. One of the most important patterns in the Junk Dollar series. In 1929 the Chinese Ministry of Finance ordered a new design for the then proposed Dr. Sun Yat Sen Dollar.
Patterns were submitted from five of the worlds leading mints; Italy, Japan, England, United States, and Austria. This represents the second of the two Italian proposals, virtually identical to the first proposal. However, the Rome Mint Mark (R) and Engravers name (A.MOTTI.INC.) have been removed from the dies.
Although Mottis initial design was rejected, the obverse design was latter modified by John Sinnock, the chief engraver of Philadelphia Mint. This portrait served as the basic model for what was used to produce the first Dr. Sun Yat Sen Junk Dollars for circulation in 1932.NGC MS-62.Wa She Wong Collection
