湖北银元局壹大圆 PMG Choice VF 35
CHINA--PROVINCIAL BANKS. Hupeh Government Mint. 7 Mace 2 Candareens, Yr. 25 (1899). P-S2135.(S/M#H175-20) One of the highlights of this diverse selection of Chinese banknotes which will certainly garner significant attention from bidders. The note is simply stunning showing in a large vertical format with facing dragons with pearl of wisdom at center. Intricate green under-prints with ornate bordering design.
Dragons shown holding silver dragon dollars with obverse and reverse shown at left and right respectively. Verso printed in a radiant orange ink which shows "CHINA," in ornate lettering in English at top center and denomination and bank name at lower center. The note is importantly seen without large cancels which dramatically increases the desirability.

Showing only minimal circulation with great color and detail throughout. A pair of horizontal folds along with a vertical fold are the most significant with mostly handling otherwise. A small repaired tear at the upper left is all that is seen beyond typical wear and is mentioned in the comments section of the PMG holder. The last we recall selling publicly was a similarly graded example in a Lyn Knight 2011 Memphis sale which hammered for $38,000 to a floor bidder. Overall an extremely important opportunity.PMG Choice Very Fine 35 Net. Repaired.
