CHINA. Sichuan Piaoding. Provincial Certified Ingots. 9.5 Tael Salt Tax Ingot, Year 4 (1879).346.13 gms. BMC-Class XL. "Guang Xu Si Nian, Fu Guan Yin Ju" [4th year of the Emperor Guanxu, Fu (Fu Soon County) Official (salt/tea) License Bureau]. "Da Sheng Xiang" (merchant Dasheng Xiang). "Jiang Gong Xiang Tai" (made by smith Gongxiang Tai). Payment ingot from merchant for about 1/2 kg of tea or salt. The government had monopolized both of these industries and merchants were forced to pay a fee just to purchase these goods from the producers. Stamps faint but readable.VERY FINE.
