1983年熊猫纪念金币10元 NGC PF 63
CHINA. 10 Yuan Pattern, 1983. Panda Series. NGC PROOF-63 ULTRA CAMEO.;40 mm; 28.5 gms. VERY RARE. A proposed design in brass for the 1983 silver 10 Yuan Panda issue which was the first silver issue in the series. A very striking design, which is utterly different from the one eventually minted.
In many respects this piece is quite a departure from most of the Chinese coins being made at the time or since. The familiar five star national emblem design is utilized with the date below; however, flanking the date and reaching up around the emblem are two facing peacocks with stylized tail feathers, and framing all is a dodecagonal frame within the rim.
The panda side is equally different and stylistic. Like the final design, the coin features two pandas. On this pattern one panda is standing reaching for an incuse bamboo shoot and the other is in a crouched sitting position, beside them is an inscription stating "China rare animal, Giant Panda". What is most striking about this design, is that nearly the entire field is a frosty matte with a scalloped border and the black areas of the pandas fur, showing the brilliant proof surfaces. An incredibly RARE pattern for this popular series which was little known up to now.;NGC PROOF-63 ULTRA CAMEO.
