Lot of (3) San Francisco, California. $5 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1800-1. Bank of Italy National Trust & Savings Assoc. Charter #13044. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 & 64. Obstructed Printing Errors.;This lot represents one of the most exciting small-size National Banknote errors to be uncovered. We owe the survival of these notes to the Cashier whose signature resides on the bills himself as he tucked these away in an envelope to be enjoyed decades later. Robert Bashford Burnmister was born August 30, 1874 in Prescott Arizona and was quickly introduced into the business world as his farther owned a Mercantile business. He would then go into the banking business with several ties to Arizona National Banks throughout the end of the 19th century and onward in his life. He later become associated with the Bank of Italy National Trust and Savings Association where he served as Cashier.<p>The errors presented in this lot are among some of the more desirable and these three notes were all once part of an uncut sheet. That sheet was obstructed heavily during the printing process, likely another folded sheet of notes, and caused two notes to receive only portions of their overprints and one, completely without. B plate note with partial obstruction in Choice Uncirculated 63; C position note with full obstruction in Choice Uncirculated 64; D position with partial obstruction in Choice Uncirculated 64. Truly a set that will be cherished by its new owner as these likely would have been broken up long ago if not for Mr. Burnmister thinking ahead of his time.
