Fr. 1529*. 1928D $5 Legal Tender Star Note. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ.；A significant small-size star note that is truly rare in high grades. This is the second finest PMG has graded with no equals and the single finer is just a point higher at the Choice Uncirculated 64 level, although it lacks the important EPQ designation found on this offering. A quick look at the PCGS Currency report continues this trend with just two notes as well in the New grade range, neither of which qualifying for a Gem grade. Lovely embossing attests to the originality and centering alone is the limiting factor in grade. The last to sell publicly was the aforementioned PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 example which we sold for $6,462 as lot 5485 in our March 2013 sale. We would expect a similar realization for this lot tonight.
